The only practical solution would be for Congress to mandate lower transaction fees. I fail to see how this either should or could be Apple’s problem to solve.
Nope. The practical solution is that retailers across the globe use the digital riptide to eliminate credit cards from the value chain. Seems churlish to chuck mud at them for trying to do this just because Apple has chosen to back the legacy credit card side to get its own payments business off the ground.
p.s. Sorry to bring this up but Congress doesn't legislate for credit card fees in China or Europe or actually 81% of the world's commerce.
